Bern's seven year affair with Kilimanjaro climaxed in 2007 with arguably the most technically and logistically demanding ascent in the mountain's history, in which Bern was determined to establish a landmark speed ascent record for a quadriplegic climber. Following his exhaustive search for a qualified support team, Bern believes that his final choice of crew could not be bettered and understandably has every confidence in their ongoing ability to deliver satisfaction - whatever the climbing group's demands.
Bern has summitted Kilimanjaro twice and is supported by a dedicated and enthusiastic team of seasoned expedition co-ordinators and mountain professionals. Bern's ground crew is blessed with a diverse and talented range of guides including Fred, the National Park's nominated 'Guide of the Millennium'; Alex, a veteran guide with 27 years' experience on Kilimanjaro; and some highly accomplished young men with almost encyclopaedic knowledge of the flora and fauna in their respective specialist fields. Bern's team operates under the expert and efficient oversight of ex-military leadership whose alpine exploits encompass experiences gained from as far afield as Everest, the Alps, the Pyrenees, and Norway.
